78th Infantry, Second Regimental Color. Organized on October 18, 1861, the 78th regiment was composed of men from Indiana, Armstrong, Clarion, Cambria, Butler, Mifflin, Cumberland, Dauphin, Beaver, and Huntingdon counties. The regiment was mustered out of service on September 11, 1865. Nothing is known about the second regimental color.

78th Infantry, Second State Color. Organized on October 18, 1861, the 78th regiment was composed of men from Indiana, Armstrong, Clarion, Cambria, Butler, Mifflin, Cumberland, Dauphin, Beaver, and Huntingdon counties. The second state flag was given to Colonel Sirwell on January 14, 1864. The remnant of the first state color was sent to PA sometime in 1864. The regiment was mustered out of service on September 11, 1865.

Organized on October 18, 1861, the 78th regiment was composed of men from Indiana, Armstrong, Clarion, Cambria, Butler, Mifflin, Cumberland, Dauphin, Beaver, and Huntingdon counties. The regiment was mustered out of service on September 11, 1865. The national color was presented to the regiment by the ladies of Kittanning and was carried at the Battle of Stones' River, TN.
